East Bengal star Alan Gow feels that India’s striking duo of Sunil Chhetri and Jeje Lalpekhlua will be facing a tough challenge during their trials with Scottish giants Rangers FC.

Gow, a former Rangers player, will be playing his first Kolkata derby against Chhetri’s Mohun Bagan AC on Sunday. The 29-year old Scotsman met Sunil during a training session at the Saltlake Stadium and the India striker asked him many things about the Rangers, life in Scotland and many more according to Gow.

Speaking to “The Scottish Sun”, Alan Gow said: “They were training in our Saltlake Stadium and Chhetri came and introduced himself. He’d been told I played for Rangers so he was asking me all about them.”

“I told him the set-up in terms of stadium and training ground was second to none but that he’d have to get used to the weather,” Gow continued.

“But he seems like an experienced boy — he’s been in America and he was ready to play for QPR before they couldn’t get a work permit.”

“He definitely seems as though he’s looking forward to going to Scotland and I think he’ll probably do well. He scored two against Malaysia the following night — the other guy who’s going to Rangers, Jeje, scored the other — and his goals record for the national team is outstanding.”

“Jeje’s a lot younger than Chhetri but he’s strong, good with his back to goal and a good finisher.”

“They will find the pace completely different in Scotland. At times here, because of the heat and humidity, games are much slower,” Gow concluded.
