India star striker Sunil Chhetri has made his league debut for Sporting Clube de Portugal ‘B’ in the Liga Orangina (Liga de Honra) in a 2-0 win against SC Freamunde on Sunday.

Sporting ‘B’ won the match courtesy to a brace by Ricardo Esgaio (49th & 65th minute) and the Lisbon side is now ranked 2nd in the league table with six wins out of eight matches. But Sporting could drop a spot in the table, if UD Oliveirense win their match later in the evening.

Sunil came on as a late second half substitute and he played six minutes in the away game at the Complexo Desportivo do SC Freamunde.

The India striker is taking step by step forward in the new environment and it is a positive sign to see him getting a few minutes in an official competition.
