Mohun Bagan AC overcame Sporting Clube de Goa 3-1 in the I-League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Sunday.

Odafe Onyeka Okolie netted just before the interval after latching onto a pass from Katsumi Yusa to give Mohun Bagan the lead.

Sporting Clube de Goa introduced the dynamic Beevan D’Mello at half-time for Royston D’Souza as they looked to attack.

Changing over Sporting Clube de Goa battled gallantly to come back into the game, but fell short in converting their chances.

With twenty minutes to go, Katsumi turned provider again as he slipped the ball in for Christopher Chizoba to double Mohun Bagan’s lead.

In the 78th minute Rowllin Borges pulled a goal back for the Flaming Oranje with a fantastic shot from outside the box, which brought excitement to all the SCG Academy players who turned up to cheer on the senior team.

From the restart, Mohun Bagan did not sit back and straight away regained their two goal cushion as Odafe lifted the ball over the helpless Sporting Clube de Goa custodian.

Sporting Clube de Goa is currently fourth in the I-League table with 29 points from 19 matches, while Mohun Bagan have 24 points from 21 games.
