Shillong Lajong FC will face Mohammedan Sporting Club in an important I-League away match at the Saltlake Stadium, Kolkata on Wednesday at 15.00 IST.

Shilong Lajong head coach Thangboi Singto and his team will be looking to do a double over Mohammedan Sporting, as the two teams previously met in November last year with Lajong winning by a scoreline of 2-1.

The Reds are in the 7th position with 29 points and are heading into the match after a 1-2 defeat at home to Mumbai FC on March 30. But the team will put this behind them and go all out for tomorrow’s match and settle for nothing less than a win as three points will push them up to 5th position.

Meanwhile, Mohammedan Sporting who have been struggling at the bottom throughout this season are placed in the 12th position with 21 points.

However, the Black Panthers will look to make full use of the home advantage more so the squad is now boosted with a lot of confidence after their 2-1 win over Rangdajied United FC on Sunday.

Thangboi Singto wants to finish the I-League strongly and tomorrow will be without a doubt a very crucial game for the Reds.

“The loss to Mumbai FC should be a motivating factor for the players to play well and get a good result against Mohammedan Sporting. We need to play as a team in order to get a positive result,” Singto said.
