Shillong Lajong FC will play their last game of the 2013-14 I-League season against Mohun Bagan AC at the Saltlake Stadium, Kolkata on Sunday at 17.00 IST. The match will be telecasted live on Ten Action.

The 2013-14 season has been the best season for the Reds with a guaranteed Top 6 finish. They still look to battle it all out in their last match for a possible Top 4 finish, should Sporting Clube de Goa lose to newly crowned I-League champions Bengaluru FC.

Thangboi Singto’s men head into the match after registering a stalemate in the Shillong Derby against debutants Rangdajied United FC. Mohun Bagan didn’t have a good campaign this year, which see themselves in the 11th position with 25 points. Karim Bencherifa’s side played United Sports club in their previous match, which ended in a goalless draw.

Both sides previously met on November 6, but the encounter ended in a 1-1 draw with goals from Cornell Glen and Zakeer Mundampara.

Speaking on tomorrow’s match Shillong Lajong head coach Thangboi Singto said, “Tomorrow’s match is a crucial one as a win will give us a better chance to finish at Top 4. So the team has to be highly motivated. And I believe the players know that and will give their all on Sunday.”

“The team will like to sincerely thank the Lajong faithfuls whose undying support throughout the season has been excellent.”

The Reds are currently in the 5th position with 33 points and the coach further commented on the standings and said, “Top 6 is guaranteed and this is the best finish for SLFC. All credit goes to the players, staff, management and the fans. A big thank you to everyone for believing in us.”
