The waiting is finally over as striker Victorino Fernandes has put pen to paper and signed a new contract with Sporting Clube de Goa at the SCG headquarters in Campal, on Saturday.

The twenty-five year old has just completed a very successful season, where he helped the Flaming Oranje win the Airtel Goa Pro League and GFA Knock out Cup. Victorino also finished as the joint top goal scorer in the Federation Cup.

“It was an eventful year for the Club, especially as SCG is celebrating its 15th year. I am sure with the additional signings this season the club will move from strength to strength and can challenge for even greater honours,” remarked Victorino.

Victorino’s sparkling performances this season has not gone unnoticed by the India Coach Wim Koervermans and the speedy forward who is nicknamed the “Indian Cristiano Ronaldo” by respected commentators was handed his national team debut this season, which was soon followed up with a second cap.

“I am delighted to be continuing with the Flaming Oranje as they have propelled me on to the national stage,” reasoned Victorino.

Despite lots of interest from other clubs and leagues with tempting offers, Victorino has stayed faithful to the Flaming Oranje as he believes this is where he will get a greater opportunity to prosper.

“Victorino is a fans favourite and his signature will be greeted with as much enthusiasm as any new signing for the club,” stated Sporting Clube de Goa Manager Angelo Albuquerque.
