The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) has initiated a Grassroots Programme for the development of football and footballers in India with all eight franchises involved. As a part of that initiative, Chennaiyin FC conducted a Grassroots Festival at the Gateway International School, Padur, Chennai on Thursday.

The festival was attended by students of Gateway International School, Padur, Gateway American International School, Padur and Gateway The Complete School, Sholinganallur.

There were 350 participants with both boys and girls showing great enthusiasm to learn about the basics of the beautiful game.

The festival was supervised by Chennaiyin FC’s technical director of grassroots, Vivek Nagul, along with Chennaiyin FC Head of Operations, Varun Tripuraneni. They were assisted by coaches and volunteers.

ISL Grassroots Technical Director, Piet Hubers, also attended the festival. He interacted with the kids and also gave his feedback to the coaches.

The participants were in the age group of 10-14 and were divided into three batches. The kids were given a demonstration of various skills and drills. Then the participants were given a chance to try out those drills and each of them had a great time.

Chennaiyin FC will be conducting such festivals in various different schools around the city throughout the year.
