The Goa Under-15 Girls began the AIFF Sub-Junior Girls’ Under-15 National Football Championship on a confident note by beating Chhattisgarh 11-0 in Cuttack, Odisha.

In the one-sided match played in Cuttack on Saturday, the Goan girls led 4-0 at half-time. Captained by Flavina Rodrigues, the Goan girls shot into the lead in the 15th through a strike from India international Sushmita Jadhav. Once the citadel had been broken, it was easy going for the Goan girls.

Somaaya Mukundan, the India international took charge off the proceedings and lived up to her fearsome reputation scoring six goals, one of which was a beautifully curled free-kick that would have done the seniors proud. Arpita Pednekar volleyed home off a Somaaya corner. The other goals came from Sushmita who scored her second goal, Beverly Cardozo and Joizima Fernandes who rounded off the tally with a simple tap in off a cross from Beverly Cardozo.
