India gains six spots in latest FIFA World Ranking

The Indian national team has gained six spots in the December edition of the FIFA World Ranking released today.

India is now ranked 166th in the world (31st in Asia) behind Gambia and Liechtenstein (both 164th) and ahead of the Cook Islands, American Samoa and Samoa who are ranked a joint 167th.

The Maldives (160th) national team is the best ranked country from the South Asian (SAFF) region, ahead of India, Bangladesh (182nd), Pakistan (184th), Bhutan (188th), Nepal (192nd) and Sri Lanka (194th).

Meanwhile, Belgium remains at the top of the FIFA World Ranking. Argentina (2nd) and Spain (3rd) have moved up, while World Champions Germany (4th) lost two spots. Chile (5th) completes the Top 5.
