Chennaiyin FC is proud to announce its association with the esteemed Special Olympics International Football Championship (SOIFC) 2019 in the capacity of strategic partner. The SOIFC 2019 is set to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai from August 3-6 with top athletes from more than 20 countries expected to participate.
Since its inception in 1968, this is the first time a Special Olympics sports event of such grand proportions will be held in India. And it is a matter of pride for the city of Chennai and Chennaiyin FC to play host to athletes with intellectual disabilities, patrons and other stakeholders from around the world on this special occasion.
“It is indeed a privilege and pleasure for all of us at Chennaiyin FC to be associated with the Special Olympics International Football Championship. With the event coming to our doorstep in Chennai, we as flagbearers of football in the state see it as our duty to be involved and support such a fantastic humanitarian celebration of football and sport for the intellectually disabled,” acclaimed Mrs. Vita Dani, Co-Owner of Chennaiyin FC.

The SOIFC 2019 promises to be a celebration of these athletes and a reminder of sport being inclusive for all. And as strategic partner, Chennaiyin FC pledges to support this initiative across all fora and contribute towards its success. Along with the tournament, SOIFC also sees a number of awareness initiatives conducted on the side-lines, including pan-India torch rallies, short city parades, walkathons, a tour of Chennai city for athletes, leadership summits, school activities et al.
