Top favourites Wolfsburg and Bayern to clash in Women’s Cup R16

The DFB-Pokal der Frauen (German Women’s Cup) Round of 16 draw took place at the sidelines of the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga (Women’s Bundesliga) match 1. FC Köln vs 1. FFC Turbine Postdam on Friday evening.

The draw carried out by former Germany WNT star Sonja Fuss produced a clash of two German Women’s football giants, as FC Bayern Munich play host to defending champions VfL Wolfsburg.

Last season’s losing finalist SC Freiburg are set to welcome Turbine Potsdam at their home ground, while 1. FC Köln and SGS Essen meet for a North Rhine-Westphalian derby.

1. FC Nürnberg are the only remaining 3rd Division (Regionalliga) side in the competition, while eleven Bundesliga and four Bundesliga 2 teams complete the line-up in the Round of 16. Nürnberg will take on Bundesliga 2 side DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

The DFB-Pokal der Frauen Round of 16 matches will be played around the country on Saturday, November 16. The final will be played at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne on May 30, 2020.
