The Mizoram Football Association (MFA) Office Bearer’s meeting made the decision to conclude the 2019-2020 season this month despite multiple programmes that had been postponed indefinitely.

MFA Season

The ongoing 2019-2020 season had been scheduled to conclude on May 31 according to the existing MFA calendar, and the MFA expresses its disappointment in not being able to conduct several key competitions in the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The MFA Cup (to be held in Saitual), Inter District MFA Sub Junior Boys Championship (hosted by Mamit DFA), Inter District Women’s Championship (hosted by Siaha DFA), MFA Women’s League, MFA Futsal League and additional futsal tournaments will not take place in the 2019-2020 season due to COVID-19.

The 2020-2021 season will commence from June 1, 2020 as per the MFA calendar but competitions will remain on hold until there is authorization from the government. Club affiliation and player’s registration & transfer will be conducted according to AIFF guidelines by the MFA executive committee.

MFA executive members and other personnel in its committees for the 2019-2020 season will remain in place for the 2020-2021 season; while District FA Office Bearers will be able to appoint its members for the upcoming season.

Aid to DFA

The MFA will donate Rs. 20,000 to all its District Football Associations as had been concluded in its MFA Annual General Body Meeting held in May 31, 2019.

General Body Meeting

The Annual General Body Meeting which had been scheduled to take place before May 31 as per the MFA Constitution, will now not be able to take place according to schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, the MFA OB meeting has decided to conduct a ‘Special General Body Meeting’ at the earliest convenience.

MFA Grassroots

The Grassroots football programme conducted under the MFA has also been concluded along with the MFA season. The current batch of Grassroot football which has been put on hold due to the pandemic will be completed once safety can be ensured for all involved.

Aijal Club

The MFA expresses its gratitude to Aijal Club for a 50 per cent exemption in rent for the MFA Office in City Park, Aizawl for the month of April, 2020 and May, 2020.
