In what is a historic moment for Bengaluru FC’s Youth Development program, the BFC U-15 Girls’ team will face Modern Girls FC in the KSFA Women’s ‘A’ Division League, their maiden competitive appearance, at the Bangalore Football Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Tuesday.

The BFC U-15 Girls’ team, the first rung of the ladder to the BFC Women’s team, was set up through trials conducted in September 2021. Head Coach Levanah Samuel will lead the side, assisted by Michael Mark Johnson while Tanvi Nair has been named captain of the team.

“We are really excited to see our U-15 Girls in action in the KSFA Women’s A Division. This will be a big moment for our Youth Development program, as the introduction of a Women’s team has been our intention from the time this club was established. This team and these games are the first steps in that direction and we would like to thank the KSFA for giving these girls the opportunity to participate in the League,” said club CEO, Mandar Tamhane.

Bengaluru FC are joined by seven other teams in the Division – Sai Sports Academy, Roots Football School, Pink Panthers FC, PASS FC, GRK Girls FC, United FC Kodagu, and Modern Girls FC. The League is set to be played out in a single-leg format, with each team set to play seven games.

“Over the past four months, we have tried to get these girls to train regularly and we look forward to tracking their progress as they take part in competitive matches. We are grateful to the KSFA for giving us the opportunity to take part in the Women’s A Division. We have appointed Levanah as the Head Coach for this team and we expect them to gain some valuable experience as we build the BFC Womens’ program for the future,” said Suhel Nair, the Technical Head of Grassroots and BFC Soccer Schools.

Kick off between the Bengaluru FC U-15 Girls and Modern Girls FC is scheduled to take place at 3.30 pm, at the Bangalore Football Stadium, on Tuesday, February 15th.
