The Blues end the season with a 1-1 draw against Roots FS, at the Bangalore Football Stadium, on Wednesday. Goals from Bhavya V Sanjana (46’) and Nandini (50’) ensured that the spoils were shared on the evening.

The first half started off with both teams trying to stitch rhythm on the ball but found it extremely hard to create chances. The Blues came close to scoring when Nandini put in back-to-back corners in dangerous areas, but BFC failed to capitalise. Shloka Krishna came closest to breaking the deadlock but her shot on target was comfortably collected by Krithika S in goal.

Both teams walked into the dressing room with no goals to show for at half-time. The Blues were desperate to finish the season on a high but conceded ten minutes into the second half. Sanjana’s looping shot went over the head of Karnika Karthick and into the back of the net. Bengaluru FC responded immediately after a through ball found Nandini, who ran half the length of the pitch and smashed it home to level the scores.

Nandini bagged her fifth goal of the campaign and played a key role for the Blues against Roots FS. Ruthu Sreenandan was brought on by Levanah Samuel in the second half in a bid to strengthen the BFC frontline.

Karnika’s heroics towards the end of the game made sure that the Blues walked away with a point.

The Blues end their campaign with 11 points on the table and finished in fourth place.
